We held our first GROSS DAY
CELEBRATION !
On Friday, April 1st, 2016, 7th and 8th grade students celebrated GROSS DAY : The 144th Day of School. The word gross represents 144 of something. In my math classes, students made a "gross" snack with graham crackers and icing and had a spitting contest. They took turns trying to get the farthest distance by spitting a piece of gum, a sunflower seed, and a piece of popcorn. Students then measured all the data and recorded it in a chart. They then had to figure out mean, median, mode, and range for their group's results. In science classes, Amy Pfeiffer from Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital presented "Grossology". She explained how our choices can effect our health and have long lasting consequences on our bodies.
